Studio 1

Rome, 1961. Studio 1 is the story of three young women who dream of changing their future during the economic boom in Italy, a country full of optimism and hope.
Giulia is about to marry a young man who she has been close to since they were children, but does not love. Rita has a secret, her one-year old child born out of wedlock. Elena is a beautiful girl willing to do anything to become famous.
All three are hired by RAI television. Giulia as a secretary in opinion services, Rita, who dreams of becoming a singer, manages to land a job as a seamstress and Elena is hired as a dancer, more for her beauty than her artistic talent.
Through the girls’ sentimental and professional affairs and in the midst of their broken and fulfilled dreams, we see the rise of Studio 1, the ultimate variety show of the 1960s, the most innovative and memorable program of the time. Studio 1 hosted both Italian and foreign artists and cemented the popularity of one of the most famous Italian singers of all times, Mina.
A protagonist of this mini-series is also the 1960s, with its unmistakable style, elegance, songs, the Fiat 500 and the Dolce Vita. An era that made history.
