Sony Pictures Television Studios to develop an adaptation for the US market in addition to distributing the original, record\u2013breaking Italian version alongside local language remakes<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lux Vide, one of Europe\u2019s leading independent TV producers has today announced that\u00a0Sony Pictures Television<\/mark><\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cSPT\u201d) has picked up the exclusive format and distribution rights to their hit Italian prime-time medical drama \u201cDoc \u2013 Nelle Tue Mani<\/mark><\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deal is the second major scripted format collaboration between Lux Vide and SPT, who have just wrapped production on the international drama \u201cLeonardo\u201d, starring Aidan Turner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Praised by Italian media as a mix of \u201cDoctor House\u201d and \u201cThe Good Doctor\u201d, Lux Vide\u2019s \u201cDoc\u201d is based on a true story. The series stars Luca Argentero (\u201cEat Pray Love\u201d) as\u00a0Dr Andrea Fanti<\/mark><\/strong>, who suffers a memory loss of the last 12 years of his life following a serious head injury, but still finds a new way to practice his profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series premiered March 26 during the pandemic on Rai-1, and was a massive success drawing nearly\u00a08 million primetime viewers<\/mark><\/strong>\u00a0and a\u00a030% audience share<\/mark><\/strong>, marking \u201cDoc\u201d as the most-watched show on Italian TV in the last 13 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
