Today<\/strong>, during the 20th edition of the Rome Film Festival<\/strong> \u2013 in the Freestyle<\/em> section \u2013 Sandokan<\/strong> was officially presented: the new international event series produced by Lux Vide<\/strong>, part of the Fremantle Group<\/strong>, in collaboration with Rai Fiction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on a idea by Luca Bernabei, Sandokan<\/em> is a brand-new television adaptation of the classic novels by Emilio Salgari<\/strong>, developed for TV by Alessandro Sermoneta, Scott Rosenbaum<\/mark><\/strong>, and Davide Lantieri<\/strong><\/mark>, and directed by Jan Maria Michelini<\/mark><\/strong> and Nicola Abbatangelo<\/mark><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series will premiere on Rai1<\/strong> starting Monday, December 1, 2025<\/strong>, across four evenings, and will also be available soon on Disney+<\/strong>. Fremantle<\/strong> will handle worldwide distribution, while Mediterr\u00e1neo Mediaset Espa\u00f1a Group<\/strong> will manage distribution in Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Filming took place between Lux Vide\u2019s Studio 7<\/strong> at Formello, R\u00e9union Island<\/strong>, Lazio<\/strong>, Tuscany<\/strong>, and Calabria<\/strong>, where\u2014with the support of the Calabria Film Commission<\/strong>\u2014the impressive English colony of Labuan<\/strong> was reconstructed in Lamezia Terme<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cast features Can Yaman, Alanah Bloor, Alessandro Preziosi, Ed Westwick, Madeleine Price<\/mark><\/strong>, and John Hannah<\/mark><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To celebrate the premiere, an immersive exhibition<\/strong> was inaugurated at MAXXI \u2013 National Museum of 21st Century Arts<\/strong>, inviting visitors into the heart of the Sandokan<\/em> universe. On display: a life-size reconstruction of Sandokan\u2019s Praho<\/strong>, original costumes<\/strong>, props<\/strong>, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes video<\/strong>.
