Exclusive first images from the set of Sandokan, the new international event series.
Angelo Poretti and Monica Saracchini, the series’ costume designers, share the study and research behind creating the costumes: “We were influenced by traditional costumes and Malay and Dayak graphics, by 19th-century illustrations, vivid colors, and even contemporary comics,” says Angelo Poretti.
The costumes of Sandokan are not only beautiful to look at; they also have a green soul. “We recycled and transformed old clothes,” adds Monica Saracchini, “and used bottle caps and plastic, washers, and old bolts to decorate the costumes of the tribes and pirates.”
Can Yaman stars as Sandokan, Alessandro Preziosi as his loyal pirate Yanez, Alanah Bloor as Marianne, Ed Westwick as the cruel Lord James Brooke, and John Hannah as Sergeant Murray, in the service of the British Consul.
